DIRECT TO FILM

What is Direct to Film?

Direct to Film (DTF) is a heat-transfer based process that utilizes water-based inks and thermo-adhesive powder. The design is printed on film and covered in powder; it is then permanently transferred to your garment when heat pressed with sufficient time, temperature, and pressure.

Pros of DTF

DTF allows for more colors and sharper details compared to screen printing. The prints are elastic, meaning they won’t have large cracks or flake off.

DTF can be done on basically any porous material such as shirts, shoes, luggage, and wood!

Thanks to DTF, we no longer have minimum requirements for any in-house printed items. We can print of 1 or 100 transfers without a complicated set up.

We do not charge set up fees for direct to film.

There is no minimum requirement.

The prints can hold up very well over time with proper care. We recommend washing the apparel inside out and hang drying. Slight cracking may occur over time but that is no different than screen print.

The sky is the limit! We can print as many colors as you need. Just keep in mind this will impact cost.

The largest imprint for DTF is typically 15″ wide and 19″ tall. This size is too large for shirts but has been done on tablecloths. We have done larger prints, but this will incur higher costs.

We prefer vector artwork submitted as an EPS, AI, or PDF. We can also work with JPEG files as long as they are high resolution. If you don’t have artwork we can create it for you!
